Airline Pushchair Rules & Cabin Approved Travel Pushchairs
Travelling with children can be stressful enough without worrying whether your pushchair will be accepted by your airline. We've created this guide to help you understand the current rules for travelling with a pushchair on popular airlines.
Please note: Airline policies can change, so we always recommend checking directly with your airline before travel.
Which Pushchairs Are Cabin Approved?
Many modern travel pushchairs are designed to fit in aircraft overhead lockers, including:
- Bugaboo Butterfly
- Joolz Aer+
- Babyzen YOYO
- Silver Cross Clic
- Ergobaby Metro+
Even if a pushchair is marketed as "cabin approved", the final decision always rests with airline staff on the day of travel.
Ryanair Pushchair Rules
Ryanair allows passengers travelling with children to bring:
- Two free pieces of baby equipment per child
- A pushchair or stroller
- A travel cot, booster seat or car seat
Pushchairs can usually be used until boarding and collected either aircraft-side or at baggage reclaim depending on the airport.
Ryanair Travel Tip
A compact folding pushchair with a travel bag gives you the best chance of cabin acceptance when space permits.
EasyJet Pushchair Rules
EasyJet allows:
- Two items of baby equipment free of charge
- Pushchairs to be used up until boarding
- Collection at the aircraft door at many airports
Cabin-sized pushchairs may be accepted onboard when space is available but this is never guaranteed.
EasyJet Travel Tip
Board early whenever possible if travelling with a compact cabin-approved stroller.
Jet2 Pushchair Rules
Jet2 permits:
- One pushchair per child free of charge
- Additional baby equipment such as travel cots and car seats
- Pushchairs often used until the boarding gate
Most pushchairs are placed in the aircraft hold unless specifically approved by staff.
Jet2 Travel Tip
Always attach a luggage tag and use a dedicated travel bag to protect your stroller.
TUI Pushchair Rules
TUI allows:
- One pushchair or stroller free of charge
- Pushchair use up to the departure gate
- Collection at either the aircraft steps or baggage hall
Travel pushchairs are popular with TUI customers due to their lightweight design and compact fold.
British Airways Pushchair Rules
British Airways generally allows:
- Pushchairs and collapsible strollers for children
- Gate check-in for most pushchairs
- Certain compact strollers may be accepted into the cabin subject to size restrictions and available space
British Airways Travel Tip
Check the dimensions of your pushchair before travelling and bring a travel bag for protection.
